About Nicholas E. Arazoza
Mr. Arazoza has served as an attorney at Campagna Johnson, P.C. since 2015. He handles matrimonial and family law matters – from the simple to the complicated – including the valuation and distribution of businesses and professional practices, discovery and equitable distribution of marital assets, contentious custody matters, and the collection and enforcement of spousal maintenance and child support.
After earning his B.A. from Boston College in 2009, Mr. Arazoza obtained his Juris Doctor degree from Albany Law School in 2012. Thereafter, he passed the bar examination on the first attempt, and has been licensed to practice law before the Courts of the State of New York since 2013. Mr. Arazoza is also admitted to practice law before the United States Supreme Court, where he was granted admission in 2019.
Mr. Arazoza regularly achieves favorable results for his clients by way of settlements and trials. His experience litigating cases at the trial level is augmented by his skillful appellate practice; Mr. Arazoza has been lead counsel on a number of highly successful appeals, and has handled all of the firm’s appeals since joining in 2015.
Notably, arguing before the Appellate Division, Second Department, on the matter of Cook v. Cook, 162 A.D.3d 674 (2d Dept. 2016), Mr. Arazoza convinced the Appellate Division to modify the decision of the Suffolk County Supreme Court by shifting custody of both children to his client. More recently, arguing before the Appellate Division, Second Department (175 A.D.3d 1540 (2d Dept. 2019)), Mr. Arazoza’s representation persuaded the Appellate Division to affirm the decision of the Suffolk County Supreme Court, thus securing spousal maintenance for his client, a forty-two-year-old woman, until her sixty-seventh birthday, in the amount of $10,760 per month.
In collaboration with a panel of expert forensic accountants, Mr. Arazoza lectured on the issue of valuation and distribution of businesses in matrimonial actions. Mr. Arazoza is scheduled to lecture again before the Suffolk County Bar Association in March of 2020, at which time he will speak on the issues of prenuptial agreements, separation agreements, and other matrimonial agreements, together with the procedure and practice of challenging and defending those agreements. Mr. Arazoza is an active member of both the Suffolk County Matrimonial Bar Association and the Suffolk County Bar Association.
Mr. Arazoza understands that divorces and child custody matters are challenging and emotional for families. He prides himself on prompt communication with his clients so that they can understand how the legal intricacies of their cases will impact their daily lives. Mr. Arazoza works tirelessly for his clients, keeping abreast of all new caselaw and developments in the matrimonial field.
Recognizing his excellence in practice, Super Lawyers named Mr. Arazoza a Rising Star in the practice of matrimonial law in 2016 and 2019.
A native of Upstate New York, Mr. Arazoza operated his own practice in Rochester where he also handled matrimonial and family law litigation and negotiations before joining Campagna Johnson Mady, P.C. He currently resides in the Town of Huntington with his wife. In his free time, he enjoys playing in a local hockey league, golfing, and cooking.
